Almond Green Beans
Ingredients:
1 pound green beans, fresh
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted
1 large shallot, chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic granules
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
Directions:
1. To toast almonds, place them in a dry sauté pan on medium heat until lightly browned. Watch carefully. Nuts go from browned to burned in seconds. Remove from the pan and set aside.
2. Break off the ends of green beans and discard. Break green beans in half.
3. Boil green beans in water in a 2-quart saucepan. Continue boiling 5 to 10 minutes or until beans are tender but remain bright green.
4. Drain water. Mix in remaining ingredients and saute for 1 to 2 minutes.
5. Serves 4 to 6
